Shopping in Southampton
Southampton has got to be THE place to shop in Hampshire. The shopping centre is a massive pedestrianised stretch of shops, including BHS, Primark, HMV and other similar shops like that. There are also two big malls off this stretch, including the West Quay, where there is a good M&S and John Lewis, and a cool Apple shop.

Southampton Titanic Memorial
The ill faited Titantic actually made its very first voyable from the Southampton docks and then just five days later hit the faous iceberg and sank soon afterwards. Many of the crew actually came from Southampton and two years later, the Titanic Engineers Memorial was erected in the East Park. If you are really interesting in Titanic memrabilia, there is a trail that you can follow with various places of interest that have connections. The tourist office will give you a free leaflet guide to the trail.

Look for the Medieval City Walls
Southampton once had miles of 14th century medieval walls and although a lot was destroyed in WWII, there is still around a mile in total remaining. You can take guided walking tours along the walls, and best of all, this is completely free. It goes on for around two hours. It shows a whole different side to Southampton, away from the endless shops.

It was actually a gateway into the walled city and was built during the 12th century. It now contains a museum. Streets are often describe in their relation to the Bargate, Above Bar and Below Bar.
